(c) Non-pensionable education allowances to overseas officers for a maximum of 3 children between the ages of 11 and 18 undergoing full-time boarding school education in the officers' country of origin as declared and accepted by Government for leave and passage purposes. The allowances are £180 per annum for the first child, £220 per annum for the second child and £250 per annum for the third child at a boarding school, reduced by the amount of any grant made by an education authority or other public body.
Note:
Education allowances are payable from the beginning of the school term next after the date of the officer joining Government.
Education allowances do not count as part of salary for any purpose (e.g. gratuity, points for quarters, passages. etc.)
All salaries and allowances paid in Hong Kong are subject to Hong Kong Salaries Tax.

A. ON PROBATION:
For general conditions of service concerning passages, quarters, leave, medical attention, language study, pensions (for officers appointed on probation, or on transfer or on temporary transfer/ secondment), gratuity (fof officers appointed on agreement), Widows' and Orphans Pension Scheme, etc., please refer to the current Memorandum on Conditions of Service in Hong Kong.
