Hong Kong Department,

ワス

26 September, 1969

Thank you for your letter of 16 September enquiring on behalf of your Committee whether the word 'Royal' may be incorporated in the title of the Hong Kong Police Association.

I am afraid that the granting of the title 'Royal' to the Hong Kong Police and Auxiliary Police Forces does not automatically confer a similar entitlement on associated organisations.

However if I am right in thinking that your Association wishes to seek separate approval for the use of this title, the correct procedure is for you to address your request through the Governor of Hong Kong. Your application would subsequently be referred by this department to the Home Office for consideration, since your Association is registered in the United Kingdom.

As you will appreciate this procedure inevitably takes some time and it is most unlikely therefore that any indi- cation of the outcome of your request could be given to you in advance of your Association's Annual General Meeting in October.
