DRAFT LETTER TO LIEUTENANT-COMMANDER S. L. C. MAYDON,
D.S.O., D.S.C., M.P., HOUSE OF COM ONS, FROM
P. L. GREGSON.
I wrote to you on 20 September, at the Prime
Minister's request, to let you know how matters stood
on the suggestion that the designation "Royal" should
be added to the title of the Hong Kong Police Force.
I regret that it has still not been possible to
reach a final conclusion on this matter. It was
discussed with the Governor of Hong Kong during his
recent visit to this country and he raised certain
other related matters consideration of which has
unavoidably led to some delay. A decision will, I
hope, be reached soon.
