Thank you for your letter of December 18 asking
about progress in considering the suggestion you
made last Spring that the designation "Royal" should
be added to the title of the Hong Kong Police Force.
I know that you will be disappointed to hear
that a final conclusion has not yet been reached on
this matter. It was discussed with the Governor of
Hong Kong during his recent visit to this country ati
the end of October. He raised certain other related
matters and consideration of these is taking some time.
A decision will, I hope, be reached soon.
