I have just learnt that you will be one of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office members of the Defence Secretary's party attending the Five-Power talks in Canberra
in June.
Since I understand that you may have official business in the Far East which does not, apart from the spell in Canberra of course, tie in with our tour arrangements I am /sending you (attached) a rough outline of flight times for
the Defence Secretary's party.
The outward and inward legs between the U.K. and Singapore will be undertaken by scheduled RAF VC 10 aircraft carrying Service personnel and families in the space not utilised by the Defence Secretary's party. The part of the programme between departure from Singapore on the morning of 17th June and arrival back there again in the afternoon of 26th June will be covered by a Service VIP Comet.
I would be grateful if you would let me know how your whereabouts during the period will permit you to make use of these flights. The times given are, you will see, local and represent a fairly firm proposition at this stage.
