2. Overseas exercises in 1970/71 will follow a similar pattern. The aim post 1971 is for six Gurkha companies to train annually in W. MALAYSIA (CJWC) and for three British companies to train elsewhere out of Hong Kong (Fiji, New Zealand and Australia). A project of sending out a UK battalion to train so that a complete Hong Kong battalion could be relieved for training in, say, Australia is being investigated. Limitations in available airlift may preclude the project.

3. After 1971 Hong Kong will arrange to carry out as many courses_locally as are possible in units, but, in the absence of the Far East Training Centre in Singapore, they will have an increased demand for course passages to UK.
