Force Levels and Deployment
ARMY
The garrison contains 6-2/3 major units organized into two brigades, 48 Gurkha Brigade and 51 Brigade. The former is mainly responsible for the frontier and the New Territories, and the latter for Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. The order of battle is at Annex B and the de- ployment at Annex C.
10. An additional battalion has been authorised from late 1971 onwards and this will be part of 51 Brigade. 67 Gurkha Independent Field Squadron will move to Hong Kong in 1970 rather than in late 1971 as originally planned because of the amount of engineer work outstanding in the Colony.

10 days of rations, POL, ammunition, medical equipment, vehicles and major equipments for the permanent garrison at Limited War rates and at IS rates for the following reinforcing units:
a small brigade headquarters three infantry battalions
an armoured squadron
Pre-stocked Unit Equipment (PUF)
There is a Stockpile of tanks for the reinforcing armoured squadron, and of vehicles and equipment for the other units in the reinforcement plan. The tank stockpile consists of obsolescent 20 pr Centurions. These and their ammunition are
