2nd July,1969.

Thank you for sending me a copy of your letter of 30th June to Stewart (M.O.D.) about the Requisitioning of Ships Orders.

We have no quarrel with either the draft 1969 Order or the procedure to be followed in making it, both of which follow closely what was done in 1955.

//

On a point of detail, in the revocation clause the two earlier orders may if desired be cited jointly (vide section 1(ii) of the 1958 Order). As I mentioned on the telephone, the President of the Board of Trade will no doubt so far be unaware of the 1955 arrangements, and we think it proper to acquaint him now of the power which will henceforth be vested in him, and the manner in which it would be exercised in the event. We are therefore taking the necessary steps. need not of course delay your further clearance action.

I am copying this letter to Stewart for his information.
