Dear Sir,

No doubt you don't get many letters of support in

It has reaction to criticism, well here is one. gladden my European heart to see a Politician, who has the guts to get our priorities right.

As I spent 2 years in the Far East Command, RAF mainly in Hong Kong, I have first hand knowledge of the situation out there. But one thing baffles me.

You spend approx 15 million per year on the Defence of Hong Kong knowing full well that its only there by the grace of Communist China,

If you wish to have a Defence, why not a locally assisted, and locally paid for one, it is time Hong Kong got Independence Status like Singapore surely.

As for the Gurhka Troops it can only be a matter of time before they too are disbanded.

I remain,

Yours faithfully,

B. JAMES
