Mr. Carter

I have spoken to Mr. Thomas about the minutes of the Chiefs of Staff meeting concerning the subject of fighter aircraft for Hong Kong. He apologised for not having sent the papers across but said that he had been specifically requested by the Ministry of Defence to delay passing any details to Hong Kong before they have had an opportunity of consulting the Defence Secretary about this since this is a matter he himself discussed with the Governor during his visit to Hong Kong. Thhas said he is doing his best to hurry up the Ministry of Defence and will let us have the papers as soon as possible.
