Mr. W. S. Carter,

Hong Kong Department

We discussed Mr. Jordan's visit on the telephone. We have no subjects we would want to raise with Mr. Jordan and I cannot at this point in time see what we could tell him of direct interest to him. I rather doubt therefore whether his call on me would be of any particular use. It could be that he simply wants to make a courtesy call and I should le quite happy about this as long as it is quite clearly understood what the purpose of the visit is.

You undertook to look at this again nearer the tine of Mr. Jordan's visit. Meanwhile, I have noted the proposed time and will do my best to keep it free.
