You will have seen my letter of the same dɛte about the
prospects for Leyland buses in Hong Kong, a copy of which we
have sent to Adam Watson of the British Leyland Motor Corporation.
I have an additional request to make in this connection, which
for obvious reasons I could not mention in a letter copied to
Watson. If, in the course of your enquiries, you can ascertain
why the two bus companies were restricted by law to the use of
buses of British or Commonwealth manufacture, it might help us in
our understanding and assessment of any issues that may arise out
of this approach. Our records do not seem to help on this point.
I should be grateful for any information you can provide.
M. P. V. Hannam, Esq., British Trade Commission, Hong Kong.
