As you doubtless know I have been appointed to Hong Kong to replace Michael Hannam as Senior Trade Commissioner there, and I expect to arrive there in early August.
2.
As I have never before been posted to a British territory (except of course in the F.Ö.), nor have I before had an almost exclusively commercial post, I should be grateful for any advice or information you could give me about the job.
3.
I understand that you will be my friend and guide in the F.C.0. in a job which I believe is rather out on a limb - my job, I mean, not yours!
4.
I expect to come back to the U.K. in early May and shall of course call on you then. I am still not very certain about dates as this depends largely on the length of the briefing course.
