Exports of cotton garments to Sweden : Special Shipment Scheme for balances of quota remaining uncommitted as at
15th May, 1969
As you were reminded in Notice to Exporters Series 6 (E.F.I.A.) No. 8/69 of 1st May, 1969, the current cotton textile arrangements with Sweden ends on 31st May, 1969 and exports of restrained cotton garments to Sweden must be shipped before mid- night on that date. Furthermore, proposed shipments against quota and export authorizations during the period 16th to 31st May, 1969 must be licensed on or before 17th May, 1959, after which date all
It is possible, remaining company quota holdings will be withdrawn. therefore, that balances of unshipped quota may become available for general utilization in the last two weeks of this month.

The following special arrangements will be instituted in order to ensure the maximum utilization of the available quota
(a) the Department will calculate outstanding balances at the close of business on Thursday, 15th May 1969 - by which time all intended shipments against quota and export authorizations during the period 16th to 31st May 1969 must have been licensed,
(b) details of the quantities available in each group will
be announced on Monday, 19th May 1969;

the Department will accept applications from all comers for the uncommitted balances from 9 a.m. on Friday, 23rd May 1969; applications received by 5 p.m. that date will be considered together and approved on a pro rata basis if necessary. Should any balances then remain available, applications will be considered and approved thereafter strictly on a first-come-first-served basis;
(a) a special applications section will be set up in the
Department's Textile Licensing Branch on the 2nd floor, Fire Brigade Building, Hong Kong; applications to ship under this scheme will NOT be accepted in Kowloon;
