late.on friday afternoon Stockholm reluctantly agreed that the request on this item should be withdrawn. It seems probable however that they will return to the attack at a later stage.

At the conclusion of the talks, the Swedes made it clear that they were watching the figures for the other two items on export authorisation (blouses and women's under arments) with some anxiety, and might wish to ask for 'consultation on them at a later date. It was tentatively arranged that the

talks on the renewal of the cotton agreement should take place in Hong Kong, starting on about 15th or 21st April; the Swedes indicated that they would wish to consider future trade in non-cotton goods at the same time.
