Exports of Women's and Girls' Woollen and Synthetic Fibre Knitwear and Men's and Boys' Woollen Knitwear to Sweden

Further to Notices to Exporters Nos. 8/68 and 23/68 of 7th August and 20th December 1968 respectively, pleased be advised that, following consultations with the Swedish authorities, exports of the following items will be under restraint until 30th June, 1969:

There now remains available for allocation approximately 10,126 pieces for the shipment of female woollen and synthetic fibre knitwear and male woollen knitwear, and on the advice of the Wool Committee of the Trade and Industry Advisory Board, it has been decided that this quantity should be distributed by means of an export authorization scheme open to all comers on a first-come- first-served basis.

Operation of Export Authorization Scheme

The arrangements are 28

(a) The Department will accept applications for export

authorizations with effect from 9 a.m. on Thursday 13th March 1969 against evidence of firm contracts in the form of

(i) (ii)

the originals of contracts placed by Swedish buyers;

the originals of contracts placed by Hong Kong exporters with local manufacturers;

(iii) the originals of letters of credit, if opened. All applications received by 5 p.m. on 13th March, 1969 will be considered together and approved on a pro rata basis, if necessary. Applications for balances remaining after that date will be processed strictly on a first-come- first-served basis.
