Thank you for letting me have a copy of your note on the meeting held in Mr. Goldsmith's room last Thursday (2nd January).
Your note covers admirably what was a most useful meeting and my only comment (if I may be permitted to make any on a Board of Trade internal minute) concerns the last paragraph. While the conclusion of our discussion was, as you rightly record, that, on the evidence available, it seemed reasonable to suggest that any concessions should be limited to anoraks, it is my belief (and that of Mr. Jordan also) that at present we possess insufficient information to reach any definite agreement on the line to be taken in the consultations with the Swedes. This will have to be settled between the British and Hong Kong Governments in the light of whatever information is obtained from the Swedes, as a result of Mr. Jordan's visit to Stockhola on 8th January.
