If you are not committed you will no doubt be
seeking to postpone this potentially difficult
occasion so as to allow as much time as
possible for the policy decisions which govern our
views of this kind of agreement to mature. We
note from the record of Jordan's discussions at the
Board of Trade on 23 June that there did not then
seem to him to be any great urgency about knitwear
imports and as this is an item at present free
from restraint, we are hopeful that Norwegians are
not pressing to include it in a new agreement.
