Textile Limitations
I am writing with reference to the recent exchanges of telegrams regarding Norway's request for negotiations to limit i ports of certain textile products from long Kong from 1 Cctober om. rus, when the present agree.ent ends.
The Norwegians have now sub..itted a formal request for talks through their Consul General in Hong Kong and are awaiting
reply from the Hong Kong govern.ent as to date.
I have now been given the Norwegian figures for imports in support of their demands and a copy of these figures is attached in reply to your telegram 128 of 5 September. 13 been submitted to the mong government by the Norwegians.

The Norwegians aim in the negotiations is that the items at present subject to quota, authorization or export licence as appropriate should continue to be controlled after 30 September and that where there is a quota, the rovision for growth given in the current memorandum of understanding between the two gover.ents should be applied. In addition, the Norwegians have the following demands: -
