Hong Kong have long been concerned about
the restrictions imposed by the Greeks upon
the imports of their textile products. You
are no doubt aware of this problem.
2.
In September 1967, Hong Kong approached
us with a request that we ask you to submit consulted a Note Verbale to the Greeks. We referred
this request to the Board of Trade, who for
various reasons held that the timing was
inappropriate, and proposed that Hong Kong
should wait until either economic relations
between the Greeke and ourselves were improved,
or until it became obvious that they would
not in fact improve.
Accordingly we told
Hong Kong to come back in a year's time, which
they have now done.
3. This time the Board of Trade have no
objection to a Note Verbale being submitted to
are not

the shanees of a successful outcome very glim
