Notification to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade
Arrangement Regarding International Trade in Cotton Textiles
Arrangement between Canada and Malaysia
The following communication has been received by the Director-General from the Canadian mission for notification to the Cotton Textiles Committee.
I have the honour to enclose a copy of a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Governments of Canada and Malaysia on 16 October following consultations held in accordance with the provisions of Article 6 of the Arrangement Regarding International Trade in Cotton Textiles. The Memorandum of Understanding sets out the agreed arrangements regarding the restraints to be applied by the Government of Malaysia to exports to Canada of cotton and polyester/cotton shirts and trousers (including slacks, shorts and Jeans) during the three-year period beginning 1 September 1968.

Memorandum of Understanding
This Memorandum of Understanding sets out the arrangements which have been agreed between the Governments of Canada and Malaysia regarding the restraints to be applied by the Government of Malaysia to exports of cotton and polyester/cotton shirts and trousers (including slacks, shorts and jeans) to Canada.
2.
The Governments of Canada and Malaysia agree that exports of cotton and polyester/cotton shirts and trousers from Malaysia to Canada will be limited to the levels shown in the Annex to this Memorandum of Understanding during the periods set out therein.
3. The Annex shall be considered to be an integral part of this Memorandum of Understanding.
4. The Governments of Canada and Malaysia will, on request, enter into consultations about any matter arising from or related to these arrangements, and provide each other with any available statistical data relevant to these arrangements.
