6. I suggest,

(1) that we write to Mr. Jordan saying that we

have seen Mr. Guinness' record, as he has done, and asking if he has any comments, reminding him, if substantive negotiations look like developing, of the interest of the Board of Trade and ourselves. We might suggest also that he adopts the alternative to which I have referred above for his follow-up. We should copy our letter to the Board of Trade.

(2) that we answer Mr. Stewart's minute with appropriate observations on the lines of those I have suggested above.
