It is accepted that the Hong Kong
Government's views will not be over-
ridden on the grounds only of opinion
as to what is in Hong Kong's best
interests, and that i.M.G. will in the
course of the consultations provide
the Hong Kong Government with the
evidence to support its view that the
asfion proposed is in ilong Long's
interests.
In matters of H.1.0's external commercial
relations, where it is proposed to follow
policies which may directly or indirectly
affect Hong Kong's interests, the Hong Kong
Government will be kept informed of H.M.0's
intentions, and will be given the
opportunity for such consultations and
representations as may be necessary to
ensure that its views and interests are
fully taken into account.
