Australian Preferences for Less Developed
Countries
As promised in my Creda 13 of 21 February (not to other recipients of this letter) I enclose copies of Customs & Excise Notice 69/30 giving details of tariff alterations affecting handicrafts from less developed countries. In the re-printed pages 1029-3 and 4 and 1030-1, the additions are sub-divisions 1-3, 6, 12, 20, 21, 25-27 of Item 46 and the new Items 47, 48 and 49. Incidentally, I see that paragraph 5 of my telegram refers to "steam raising and furnace apparatus": the last word should have been "applications".
2.
For the record, since Heather Harrison raised the point in her letter ECO/6/6 of 13 December, I confirm that in this case, following your Creda 132, we re-confirmed to the Department of Trade & Industry United Kingdon opposition to reversed preferences,
3.
I am copying this letter and enclosures to Trade Policy Department and Hong Kong Department, F.C.0. and to Commerce & Industry Department, Hong Kong, with reference to Hiss Harrison's letter of 13 December.
