Sir,
Equal Pay for Hong Kong Government Servants
We respectfully beg to bring to your Lordship's attention the attached copy of a petition submitted to His Excellency the Governor on 14th February 1969, by the above Subcommittee on behalf of Government nurses almost 3000 of whom added their signatures to the petition.
2.
It is already four years since Government Adopted the 1965 Salaries Commission's recommendations for equal pay in the Hong Kong Civil Service for men and women officers doing identical work or similar work of virtually equal value, and we would like Your Lordship to know that government nurses regard as extremely unjust the current proposals made by the Hong Kong Government for the introduction of a Civil Service equal pay scheme which envisages the further deferment of equal pay for government nurses and teachers.
3.
We fully support the views expressed by the Hong Kong Government Educational Workers' Association in the petition they have submitted to you on this subject, and earnestly seek Your Lordship's support for the appeal for just treatment that we made to His Excellency the Governor in the attached petition.
C.C.
We have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your Lordship's obedient servants
