(i) Projects costing less than £10,000

A short background note only is needed for describing

the project and covering the following points:-

(a) Is the project included in the approved development

plan?

(b) Benefits to be dervied from the project,

economic and social.

(c) Location of the project and reasons for its choice

(a) Total cost of project, amount of British aid required

and over what period. (U.K. financial years)..

(e) When the work will begin.

(ii) Projects costing between £10,000 and £100,000

A more detailed description of the project should be given

covering points (a) to (e) in (i) above together with the

following:-

(f) Why is the project being put forward at this time?

(6) How will the operating costs be financed when

the project is completed?

(h) The agency responsible for construction and whether

the project will be put out to tender.

(iii) Projects costing over £100,000

The description of the project should cover all the

points listed at (a) to (h) above, together with the following:

(i) Whether consultants will be used (i) in the

design stage and (ii) to supervise construction or if not,

how construction will be supervised.

(j) Availability or proposed provision of power, water

and other services.

In dealing with (b) 'benefits to be dervied from the project'

information should be given covering both direct benefits e.g.

sales of products, increase in Secondary School places, additional

hospital beds etc. and indirect benefits, e.g. increased revenue
