absolute prohibition and that in Arkansas, Delaware,
Indiana and Wisconsin, former statutes prohibiting
night work have been repealed in the last ten years.

out the legal position regarding night work for women
in Australia. Fairchild Australia Pty. Ltd. does not
work a night shift at present but the economic condi-
tions in Australia are wholly dissimilar and it will
be seen that despite the high standard of living and
relatively good labour conditions which prevail in Aus-
tralia, night work for women is not prohibited.

The Parent Company is at present considering
the opening of a new manufacturing subsidiary in Europe.
Although most European countries follow the ILO conven-
tion prohibitions on night work for women, the legisla-
tion frequently permits the granting of waivers and the
Parent Company has been encouraged by the Authorities in
Belgium and West Germany to submit applications for such
waivers in the event of their deciding to establish a
manufacturing facility in those countries.
17.
The working conditions under which female labour
would be employed by the Company on night shift work are
of the highest standard and include :~.
(1) Fully air-conditioned modern factory building.
(2)
Well lighted, orderly, clean working areas.
