You will recall the recent exchange of telegrams about a familiarisation visit by J. K. Wright, our Senior Economic Adviser.
It is now fixed that he should spend four clear days in Hong Kong. arriving on 7 April and leaving on 12 April.
Wright has been asked to devote some preliminary thought to the economic aspects of some of the matters raised in our long-term study, particularly the problems of rundown. He has been carefully bricfed by John Moreton and myself on all the caveats attaching to
this and will, I feel sure, tread with due circumspection.
Sir Hugh Norman-Valker was present when I spoke to him on this
subject.
His Excellency
Sir David Trench, GCMG., MC., Government House,
HONG KONG.
