5. I should be grateful if departments could provide the following briefing material to reach the Private Office by lunchtime on Thursday, 4 December:
(i) for the Prime Minister
(a) Vietnam a major passage to last about ten to fifteen minutes, in the form of speaking notes (3.E.A.D. in consultation as necessary with other departments);
(b) Nigeria: the Prime Minister will not require
speaking notes but would like an up-to-date memorandum on the state of play on negotiations. Un relief matters, he will draw on the paper recently circulated to Cabinet (W.A.D.);
(c) Greece one side,in the form of speaking notes
(S.E.D. in consultation with W.C.D.);
(d) A European Security Conference

one side, in the
form of speaking notes (with a reference forward to the Secretary of State's speech the following day) (N.O.D. and E.E.S.D.).
(ii) for the Secretary of State
(a) NATC, East/West relations and a European
Security Conference - a major passage in the form of speaking notes, to last about fifteen to twenty minutes (M.C.D. in consultation with E.E.S.D. and W.E.D. and D.P.D. as necessary);
(b) The U.. application to join the Common Market
a passage to last about ten minutes in the form of speaking notes (E.1.0.).
