The Committee's Order of Reference is as follows:
"To review policies but not individual cases, relation to

a)
the operation of the Race Relations Act 1968 with particular reference to the work of the Race Relations Board and the Community Relations Commission,
and
b)
the admission into the United Kingdom of Commonwealth citizens and foreign nationals for settlement."

The House of Commons have given the Committee"power to send for persons, papers and records", i.e. to summon both oral and written evidence.

The Committee are currently examining the Problems of Coloured School-leavers. To this end, as well as taking evidence at Westminster from Government Departments and others, they will be visiting a number of areas where there are fairly large numbers of coloured children and young people.
