Lastly, the enclosure asks for background notes on individual countries. These should be short (not more than one side if possible) and should be provided only where there are live political issues which are likely to be brought up and which are not covered by the back- ground briefs in paragraph 2.

Could you let me have comments on these arrange- ments, if you have any, and suggest any gaps which are obvious to you? Could you also let me know for which of the countries in your bailiwicks you will be producing country notes? We will then circulate a revised list of briefs, which will give you the necessary numbers.

5. All briefs should be circulated by 29 August. you send 60 copies of each of your briefs to the Treasury Committee Section, in final form, during that week? They should by then have been cleared with all interested Departments.
