2nd. June, 1969.

car Sir,

The attchel is a letter sent,te me by over 80 prisoners, all first

л offenders, who complain of unfair treatment by the Board of Review of prison

sentences.

I do not claim to know all the facts, but after reading their letter

I feel it really a pity that we neglect and forget these human beings who

appear in courts and then disappear from nemcry.

Of course they have committed sone kind of crime, but none of us can

cuarantee that we shall never break the law.

I think our community shoul? consider each one of these cases: if

they are willing to become new men and completely change their way of life, if they really understand what they did wrong in the past and have now

changed their attitude and want to correct their behavicur, why should they

not be given a chance?

I enclose a copy (translated in the case of the English version) of

their pitiful letter. I hope it can be published for the public to sec.

Yours faithfully,

E. Eliste
