From: Mr. John Tilney, M.P.

3 Victoria Square,

London, S.W.1.

PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL 13th December, 1968.

I had the opportunity of seeing the Governor on Thursday evening and was able to refer your letter to him not that I showed it to him. He told me that only 16 were now detained and confirmed that every detaines knew why he was detained. He had a statement made to him. I suggested that possibly members of the Judiciary might serve on the Committee looking at the detainees but the reaction generally was that the Judiciary Hisliked being tied up in a non-legal body which to some extent had to be the servants of the Executive. But at least your objection has been heard in high quarters.

Love to you all. Please let us know when next there is a chance of you coming to England and give our joint godsen a kiss from both of us.
