5. The case for continued detention is regularly reviewed
by the authorities with a view to release as soon as possible
having regard to the security considerations involved.
Appointment of Members of Committee of Review

The Chairman and members of the Committee of Review are
appointed by the Governor. There is no limit to the number
of members who may be appointed.
Number of Persons now in Detention
7. There are now six persons remaining in detention in
Hong Kong under the Emergency (Principal) Regulations.
Continued Retention of Power of Detention
8. The power of detention under Regulation 31 of the
Emergency (Principal) Regulations will not be retained for
longer than the security situation requires.
