By local standards this was a mild session.

Yuan wes defensive
in manner and avoided usual blood-curdling stories about Hong Kong prisoners. He was obviously embarrassed and upset by publicity campaign, repeatedly saying this was wicked distortion and would not help a solution.
He was also anxious to
get over the point that Chinese would look after Grey's health. 2. He refused to be drawn however into giving eny explanation
The most of Grey's continued detention or suggesting a price.
I got was a reference to further arrests after detention of Grey. 3. You may wish to publicise fact of interview and protest. In view of Chinese sensitivity I suggest reference to my having stressed concern for Grey's health and demanded full medical treatment end to Chinese statement that Grey's conditions were "lenient".
