Malcolm,
I hard's many
I very much enjoyed listening to you on Thursday night at the Annual Anglo-Indonesian Dinner. appreciative comments about the speech afterwards.
At the beginning of August I am starting out on a five-week tour of Asia, as Chairman of the Fabian Inter- national Bureau and of the Council for Education in the Commonwealth. As of now I plan to visit Hong Kong, South Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, India and Pakistan.
I under took a similar kind of trip last August through South America and the Foreign Office were good enough to ask our Embassies out there to help in arranging a programme. The tour then was jointly sponsored by the Ford Foundation and the Ariel Foundation.
I wonder if I might come over for a brief chat fairly shortly, because I know you must have some fascination impressions of your recent trip. If I could then be in touch with the relevant Desk Officers concerning dates and details, it would make sure that the trip is as well prepared as possible.
I did, incidentally, in South America give a number of lectures on the general subject of Britain Today and would be prepared to do the same on this trip. I have been to all the countries mentioned before and know most of the leaders personally. I am in the process of calling on High Commissioners and Ambassadors and they all seem keen on the trip.
Your Sucend
Coli Jackson.
