Miscellaneous
It was originally hoped to arrange a Parliamentary Seminar in September/October 1969 based on Fiji, but for various reasons, this eventually proved impracticable for Fiji. The British Solomon Islands Protectorate was then considered as an alternative venue, but this too was not practicable. Finally, the Executive Committee of the U.K. Branch decided to send instead two delegations to the Pacific Area, this one, and a second one to Fiji, Tonga and Western Samoa. The itinerary and dates of the second delegation have not yet been finalised, but the dates are approximately 24th October to 14th November, and the Members are Rt. Hon. Harold Davies, M.P. (Leader), Captain Walter Elliot, D.S.C., M.P., Mr. Kenneth Lomas, J.P., M.P., and Rt. Hon. Sir John Vaughan-Morgan, Bt., M.P.
Another U.K. delegation will be visiting Australia including Papua and New Guinea in October/November: Again, the itinerary and dates have not yet been settled, but the Members of this delegation are Rt. Hon. Patrick Gordon Walker, M.P. (Leader), Mr. Terence Boston, M.P., Rt. Hon. Lord Champion, J.P., Sir Harmar Nicholls, Bt., J.P., M.P., and Mr. Norman Wylie, Q.C., M.P.
The Duke and Duchess of Kent will be visiting Australia in August 1969, and then the British Solomon Islands from 3rd to 8th September, and the New Hebrides from 8th to 11th September.
