Gilbert and Ellice Islands Colony (Subsidiary Branch of U.K.parent Branch
NOTE: This Subsidiary Branch of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands Governing Council has been formed recently. At the Annual C.P.A. Conference in the Bahamas in 1968, the General Council of the C.P.A. decided that the House of Representatives was not strictly a Legislature within the terms of the Association's Constitution, and was not therefore entitled to form a Branch, but the Governing Council was entitled to form a Subsidiary Branch; the Branch's status will be re-considered when there is new advance in the Gilbert and Ellice Islands Constitution. The majority of Members of the House of Representatives are thus excluded from membership of the Branch, but it was agreed that when they travel abroad, they would receive help and courtesies as if they were Members, apart from travel concessions.
