Mr. R.J. Minnitt (P.I.O.D.)
Commonwealth Parliamentary Association
You will have received a copy of Mr. Smallman's minute of 15 July about the visit of a delegation from the United Kingdom Branch of the C.P.A. to the B.S. I. P., G. E.I.C., New Hebrides and Hong Kong between 30 September and 27 October.
2. The delegation consists of:
Leader:
Rt. Hon. Miss Margaret Herbison, M. P.
(Labour: Lanarkshire North)
Members: Mr. Brian Harrison, M. P.
(Conservative: Maldon)
Mr. Norman Haseldine, M.E.
(Labour: Bradford, West)
Mr. B. Godman Irvine, M.P.,
(Conservative: Rye)
Attached to the minute under reference was a copy of Mr. Davies' letter of 14 July to all the delegates. We should also have attached a copy of his earlier letter of 9 July giving the delegates information about vaccinations etc., and enclosing background reading material (paragraph 3 of the letter refers).
3. Miss Herbison is trying to arrange a briefing meeting in the rooms of the Branch in Westminster Hall at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, 22 July. I shall be grateful if you can arrange for members of your staff to be available. I shall be able to confirm date and time on 21 July.
4.
As regards Hong Kong, Mr. Carter (to whom I am copying this minute, will see that a reasonable quantity of reading material has been provided from the Hong Kong Government Office in London. I have asked Miss Herbison to contact Mr. Carter if an oral briefing is required by her. (I have reason to believe that some of the delegation will return to London via the United States rather than undertake the Hong visit.
