We have just learned that M. R. D. Heseltine, Conservative MP for Tavistock, will be spending the nights of 29/30 September in
Hong Kong in the course of an itinerary which includes four out of the five continents (Africa being the exception). He is scheduled
to arrive in Hong Kong from Delhi at 0135 hours on the morning of 30 September (Flight AI.112A) and will leave for Tokyo at 1845 hours on 1 October (Flight AI.102A). He will be staying at the
Mandarin Hotel.
We have been given no reasons for the visit (or indeed for the tour) but it may be concerned with Heseltine's business
interests. He has strong connections with the publishing world and was a Director of Bow Publications from 1961-65 and is Joint
Managing Director of the Town Publishing Group.
He was a television interviewer during the period 1960-64.
Heseltine has made no special requests in connection with
his visit but he has indicated that he would be glad to see a
senior government official if there is one who can spare the time.
His Excellency
Sir David Trench, GCMG., MC.,
HONG KONG,
(W. S. Carter)
