HKK 1/10 UNCLASSIFIED
Hong Kong Department,
30 December, 1969.
Peter Tapsell, Conservative M.P. for the Horncastle division of Lincolnshire has written to the Secretary of State about his present tour of the Far East. He antic- ipates seeing many of the leading politicians en route, although this is primarily a business trip.
2. He will be in Hong Kong from 15-18 January, and will be staying at the Mandarin Hotel. In his letter he states "I do not anticipate requiring any special help from any of our Missions, but I would appreciate the opportunity of being briefed by them on the local scene if they could spare the time to see me".
3. We have no further information about this visit, or his intentions in Hong Kong. I am also sending a brief despatch to the Hong Kong Government, stating that Tapsell will be in the Colony.
