Meeting with Sir David Trench,

Governor of Hong Kong

(At 4 p.m. on Wednesday, 26 November)

Sir David Trench, Governor of Hong Kong, is on leave and

returns to the Colony on 12 December. He has attended the Office

for three days of official discussions and will be similarly

available from 8-10 December.

2. Sir David's term of office (including a year's extension)

expires in April 1970. He is much concerned that before he

returns to the Colony an announcement should be made about his

successor or, alternatively, that his term of office is to be

further extended.
