Proposed Visit of Princess Alexandra
to Hong Kong in 1970
The Governor very much hoped that Her Royal Highness would be able to visit the Colony next year. Hong Kong had had no official Royal visit for several years; moreover it was desirable that Her Royal Highness should be seen to follow up the appointment she had accepted as Commandant General of the Royal Hong Kong Police and Auxiliary Police Forces. The Forces were anxious to make a presentation to her; the Foreign and Commonwealth Office would make
enquiries as to the rules governing such presentations, The Governor thought that if provision of the necessary funds for the visit was likely to constitute a difficulty, Hong Kong might be prepared to meet the costs provided that Her Royal Highness was accompanied by no more than a small retinue and travelled by ordinary BOAC aircraft.

It was agreed that the Governor might mention this matter to
Sir Denis Greenhill at their meeting on 25 November.
