(a) As Secretary of State will be visiting
Hong Kong at end of an exhausting tour, we think it would be helpful if tour of Hong Kong Island on afternoon of March 5th could be regarded as expendable if need be. Presumably this could be can- celled at last minute without inconvenience?

Secretary of State hopes it would be possible for him to have some advance notice of the questions that will be put to him at the brief meeting with the Press on arrival. Could Watt manage this, so that before Secretary of State sees Press he could discuss with you lines of his replies?
Secretary of State is booked on plane leaving Hong Kong at 22.00 hrs. on March 7th, not 17.15 hrs. You may feel this could most usefully be used to permit longer time for meetings in after- noon at which problems for Hong Kong of British entry into Common Market could be aired. Grateful your suggestions.
