On last day of visit, Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs discussed Hong Kong's trade relations with Britain, Common Market and other trade and financial matters at separate meetings with Colony's three major trade and industrial organisations Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Hong Kong Industries and Chinese Manufacturers Association of Hong Kong. These meetings followed briefing on Hong Kong's commercial and industrial position by Director of Commerce and Industry, Mr. T.D. Sorby and officials of Commerce and Industry Department.
Mr. Bowden also visited Police Headquarters where he received briefing on all aspects of police work from Commissioner of Police Mr. E. Tyrer. Earlier, Mr. Bowden flew to New Territories for aerial view of some of Hong Kong's major development projects. These include Plover Cove scheme which on completion will provide fresh water storage capacity of 30,000 million gallons, nearly three times present total capacity; Kwai Chung development, Hong Kong's most ambitious reclamation project to provide five hundred acres of new land for industry and housing; and sites for new satellite towns in Shatin and Castle Peak.
Mr. Bowden is giving press conference at airport
just before departing for London.
