payment where, there is a real risk of Government restrictions on

payments, or

(b) in the case of a private buyer who is not credit-worthy in his

own right there is an obvious Government involvement in the Compnay

or Government interest in the carrying out of the project, or

(c) in the case of a State trading system, the organisation cannot

stand on its own feet financially. The following are some examples

where E.C.G.D. have asked for and obtained such guarantees:-

(I). From the Government of Kenya, Tangania and Uganda in respect

of purchases by the East African Airways Corporation.

(2). From many Governments in respect of purchases by their

respective state airlines, e.g. L.A. N. of Chile.

(3). From the Argentine Government in respect of the El Cadillal

Hydro-Electric project directed by the Provincial Government

of Tucuman.

Plan organisation of the Government of Iran in respect of

the scheme being carried out by the Khuzistan Water & Power

Authority.
