Ministers have considered your telegram No. 26 of 9th January.
They are naturally concerned about future of locally engaged staff,
high proportion of which has been engaged on this work as employees
of U.K. Government for many years. While they have no general comments
to make on arrangements you propose, there are, however, particular points
which the team now in Hong Kong may wish to explore further with you and
your officials. We are confident they will receive sympathetic hearing.
