Dear Tea,

5th September, 1968.

ohi ANNEY

Labour Conditions in Hong Kong.

You will recall that you recently came to see me about a brief for the Board of Trade on general labour conditions in Hong Kong. In this connection I wrote to Hong Kong to ask for their latest wage survey figures and also for the latest copy of their Abstract of labour legislation.

(i)

(ii)

I now enclose for your information:

a photostat of a survey of wages, hours and conditions of work as at March, 1968, in the principal Hong Kong industries;

an Abstract of the principal labour legislation in force at the end of 1967.

You may find these two documents useful for

reference purposes.

I understand that the March, 1968, wage survey is in process of being printed. It will of course be included in the 1967/68 Annual Report of the Commissioner of Labour but if I get a printed copy before that Report appears, I will send you one.

E. Glover, Esq., Hong Kong Department, Commonwealth Office, Matthew Parker Street, LONDON, S.W.1.

Yours sincerely,

Pat bewee

(P.C.M.Sedgwick).
