Parliamentary Question.

Dispute at Kowloon factory of Hong Kong artificial flower works concerned only injection-moulding department. All workers in this section were adult men. They worked eight-hour shifts with one hour off for meal and rest on seven days a week. Periods of employment were 8 hours a day and 56 hours a week and working hours 7 a day and 49 a week.

2. Normal working hours for other departments varied between 9 and 10 and-a-half for adult males according to nature of work. Working week was seven days.

3. Normal working hours for women and young persons of 16 years or over were 10 a day and 60 a week with one rest day each week. Normal working hours for other young persons were 8 a day and 48 a week with one rest day each week. From information available dispute appears to have had nothing to do with hours of work.

4. You might like to counter the bald statement that "the lock out of workers led recently to violent disorder"
