Riot.
Unlawful assemblies, riots and similar offences.
18. (1) Where there is an assembly or gathering of three or more persons and any person in such assembly or gathering does or says anything which is likely to or might cause any person reasonably to fear that any of the persons in such assembly or gathering may commit a breach of the peace, or which is likely to or might provoke other persons to commit a breach of the peace the sasembly or gathering shall be an unlawful
assembly.
(2) Any person taking part in or forming part of or joining an unlawful assembly shall be guilty of the offence of unlawful assembly and shall be liable -
(a) on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment
for five years; and
(b) on summary conviction, to a fine of five thousand
dollars and to imprisonment for three years.
(3) It shall not be a defence in proceedings for an offence under this section that the assembly or gathering of persons was originally lawful.
19. (1) Where any person in an unlawful assembly commits a breach of the peace, the assembly shall be a riot.
(2) Any person taking part in or forming part of or joining a riot shall be guilty of the offence of riot and
shall be liable
(a) on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for
ten years; and
(b) on summary conviction, to a fine of five thousand
dollars and to imprisonment for five years,
